President's Report.
The first year in a position is quite a new experience and is a learning curve with new challenges. I am fortunate indeed having Mick Tarling's fine example to observe during the past three years plus the complete support of all the executive to carry me through.
During the year some big changes around the club have happened; the bar has been refurbished with a new drinks' cooler; a coolroom has been installed behind the present storeroom for the storage of draught beer and other beverages. A new public address system has been purchased and eight new round tables now enhance the lounge area.
While mentioning new additions I am delighted to congratulate Lois Brown and David McLennan for having successfully passed their official umpires' examination. Well done.
Our club is one of the very few bowling clubs in Christchurch that own their own premises, most clubs being in public parks which are council grounds. Naturally having such a valuable asset has given rise to various rumours circulating about the future of the St. Albans-Merivale Bowling Club's future and suggestions of amalgamation with another club or clubs. Some proposals have been made but did not warrant serious consideration. Another possibility has been floated which could take ages to achieve and may never eventuate. In the meantime we will continue to hassle the Christchurch City Council about the car parking restrictions in St. Albans Street.
Our two tournaments each month plus the women's annual tournament, all of which Sandy Stokes organizes and promotes so well, provide regular and much needed income for the club. Add to this the many corporate events, social events and business house bowls which all help keep the  club active.

Earlier in the season we lost three long serving members in Dave Roberts, Keith Todd and Braham Lynskey. All three members had given many years of service to the St. Albans-Merivale Bowling Club and will be sadly missed.

Keith Tod.

Dave Roberts.

Graham Lynskey.
On a lighter note our coaches are providing regular tuition to groups of secondary school pupils from St. Margarets, Rangi Ruri and Christchurch Girls' High School. Some of these students have already represented Canterbury in inter provincial events.
I wish to thank all members of the executive for their support and help during the year and if reelected we can work for our club and members.
Lastly, on behalf of the executive and all members of the St. Albans-Merivale Bowling Club I wish to express our appreciation of the many, many years of service as treasurer and financial manager given to the club by Allen Snowden. His constant control and supervision of the club's finances has allowed the club to operate successfully over many years. Enjoy you retirement Allen.
